"According to Hoyle..." - A Game Day Celebrating the Man Who Literally Wrote the Book
"According to Hoyle..." is a phrase that began in the late 1700's after Edmond Hoyle released a rule book pertaining to a popular high society game called ‘Whist’. Hoyle eventually went on to write several official rule books for many card and board games, such as Quadrille, Piquet, Chess, and Back-Gammon! Today, many books of collected rule sets for card games, billiards, and board games still reference Hoyle in their names or rules as a nod to the greatest rule book creator in the business!
We invite our residents and guests to join us in a day of fun playing any and all games we can think of with the rules being “According to Hoyle”!
