The Good Nurse is based on a true story, detailing the real-life investigation into serial killer nurse Charles Cullen, with actor Jessica Chastain playing nurse Amy Loughren, who helped uncover his crimes.

Nurse Amy is shocked when Charlie Cullen, one of her colleagues, is found responsible for the murder of dozens of patients over a period of sixteen years, across two states and nine hospitals, without being charged.

The film is an adaptation of Charles Graeber's 2013 book, The Good Nurse: A True Story of Medicine, Madness, and Murder, which chronicles the events surrounding Cullen's murders and the subsequent investigation.
